Re: I will get debraced soon....

Haha, I wasn't logged in so I couldn't see the pictures, and I was expecting your teeth to look decent, but possibly still problematic. I logged in though and they look really good. Honestly, I don't know if it helps, but you have nice teeth. Genuinely you do. If I didn't think you did I wouldn't ha...

Re: Orthodentist wants to take off but still not perfect tee

I didn't even notice the teeth coverage, and I'm not sure how far you differ from the average or ideal. Even if you do, personally I don't think it looks bad at all (but that's obviously not relevant to whether or not he should have or could have done a better job, and maybe whether or not you're ha...

Re: Orthodentist wants to take off but still not perfect tee

You refer to the person handling your braces as an orthodontist and a dentist. Is it an orthodontist or just a dentist? Does he want to take them off at your next visit? Was he prepared to take them off at your most recent visit but you asked him not to? Before you got your braces did he tell you th...

Re: Braces on top teeth only... stain appearing on bottom te

Have you just started using Listerine since getting braces? Have you changed your brushing technique on your bottom teeth? Are you eating or drinking different foods? I don't know. I've also gotten inexplicable staining on my teeth since getting braces, despite proper hygiene and having very little ...

Re: How effective will be braces for adults?

Is this just really clever advertising? It would be a shot in the dark for the person listing the link if it was. The chances of anyone being near to whoever he listed is so slim. This forum ranks pretty highly on Google. If you were to search for orthodontists in Alberta, or something like orthodo...

Re: How effective will be braces for adults?

No, I didn't report it. I'm curious to see if the person replies though. A username in full name format is also strange. Maybe that was done to lend credence to the post?

Re: Those who have been in braces for 3 years or more

Oh, you've reminded me. I don't mean for those that had braces for years as a teenager, but if you started as an adult, say 18 and over. It seems like teens might on average have a longer stay in braces.

Those who have been in braces for 3 years or more

It seems like many people are in braces for 2 or fewer years, some up to 3 years, but not very often more than that. I have question for those of you have been, or are projected to be in braces for 3 years or more. Was this the initial projection given to you by your orthodontist? Or were you origin...

Re: My 'pre-story' - lots of thoughts and questions!!

Also, I forgot to add that one orthodontist told me that most orthodontists charge more for surgical cases, so that could also be another reason that an orthodontist would be more reluctant to suggest oral surgery (because the price would go up for the patient, possibly what happened in your case, a...

Re: My 'pre-story' - lots of thoughts and questions!!

Something from my own experience, my oral surgeon didn't seem to go into that much detail, although I only had one surgical consult, and so I have no other surgeons to compare him to from firsthand experience. However, he seemed less detailed than some other surgeons based on posts I've read on thes...

Re: My 'pre-story' - lots of thoughts and questions!!

I wouldn't let how the ortho made you feel be too big of a part of the equation. You won't have that much contact with them, and in the end, you're there to get a better occlusion. It's very questionable how much of their bedside manner can tell you about their ability to give you a better result. C...

Re: Getting top braces tomorrow

Sorry, but what do you mean by "told me half of my life was over"? I don't understand the relevance of your mother's loss of teeth to your current situation. Braces are pretty safe! Certainly when measured against the potential downside of not getting them, in many cases. The worst thing i...

Does your ortho office have assigned assistants?

You know the people that change your wire and attach the ligatures? Does your orthodontist's office assign them to you for the duration of your treatment, or do you whoever is available at the time? Did they let you know that you were assigned to the assistant (when treatment began) and did you have...

Re: April/May 2014 surgical buddies..

How long until you guys were able to brush all your teeth? I thought that it would be about 2 weeks, but I can not open my mouth nearly wide enough to get to the backsides of my teeth.
