Re: Fastest time from consultation to braces?
I'm surprised at how fast some people get them on! Same day seems almost to fast but I guess these are other straight forward cases, or they don't do anything major in the first weeks anyway so might as well start straight away and get the commitment? I don't know. My case was a bit different becaus...

Re: Braces and Chickening out!?
I'm 27, just do it! You will soon realise that people don't really care at all. I've had no negativity. I think I've even gained some confidence knowing I'm doing something.

Re: New to braces
Welcome and good luck with your treatment. After about a month I started to notice changes in areas I never really noticed where problems. Just everything starts looking straighter and more level, on my bottom row that is. 3 months in and teeth have rotated just that little bit where things start fi...

Re: Finally doing this (I hope)
I'm also 27, I've had braces for a couple of months now and am surprised at how much change I can already see. It's a great age for braces, I feel a lot more confident and ready for them now although I definently regret not getting it done sooner. Congratulations on getting braced, hopefully it all ...

Re: Braces Envy
I have had a few people say how they wish they could get braces after finding out I have got them. Usually people who don't have major problems, but a crooked tooth or two, you know not perfect but not extreme cases. People you don't automatically think need braces. Possibly because my teeth are pre...

Re: 24 hours since fully braced, concerned about next appt
That's pretty normal, my orthodontist said they generally have the second appointment after 8 weeks, then monthly from then on.

Re: Permanent Retainer
I was told I would require top and bottom permanent retainers, basically forever, because of my tongue. Braces have not bothered me at all so I dont think I will have much of a problem with that. Im hoping I also get an other retainer as like a back up? because it can take quite a while to get an ap...

Not at all, I assume back when they were your age their was less priority put on dental health etc. Your healthy straight teeth will be easier to maintain going forward.

Re: The waiting room
I don't mind the waiting room, its mainly older teens where I am. The thing I really don't like is, well my ortho operates the 2 chairs in a larger room and goes back and forward between patients, which is fine. It is when the teens parent and usually younger siblings etc all feel the need to join t...

Re: Getting an appointment
I am about to be treated at one of my orthodontists regional offices. It's been 6 months between first consultation and finally getting braces, obviously this is because he can't take on every new patient at once. However I am now a bit worris treatment might take that little bit longer... Generally...

As everyone else has said definently check with your ortho, mine plans to make room for my wisdom teeth as I haven't had any problems with them.

Re: teeth extraction, fixed braces...getting really nervous!
My dentist prefers to do 2 at a time as well. It doesn't cost any more, or wouldn't even take much longer to take out the extra 2, I'm sure it would save them time to do 4 at once. I was really glad to have just the two done at once, I got my left done today, easy, painless, and I get to eat on my r...

Re: Fear of dental extraction
Try not to worry about it. I had 2 out today about 14 hours ago and I still haven't felt a bit of pain. The numbing gel took away the feeling of the injections and they numbed the whole front side of my mouth so the most I felt was a pressing feeling on my teeth, but no more pressure than you can ap...

Getting it complete by 30 was one of my motivators to actually get it done as well. Good luck with it.
