Re: Genioplasty hardware removal
Update: I had this done last Friday. Minimal swelling. No pain. I didn't even take my prescribed pain meds. Stayed inside for a few days because I was not very presentable, but getting the plate removed was a total piece of cake. Mind you, I just had the one chin plate removed. If I had all hardware...

Re: Gum Recession due to Bonded Retainer??
No responded to my post but I wanted to give an update in case it can help others in the future. At my ortho appt this week, I mentioned my concern and ortho said the glue could definitely be irritating my gums. He scraped away some of the extra glue at the gumline. Took 2 mins. My gums feel much be...

Re: Loose, saggy skin after bimax surgery 3months post
I would consult with another oral surgeon in your area to get a better idea of what went wrong. Avoid telling them who did your surgery however because local docs tend to stick together.

Re: Too much glue??
I just had some of the glue on mine scraped away for similar reason and it was no big deal. Just ask your ortho or dentist. Takes 2 seconds.

Re: Loose, saggy skin after bimax surgery 3months post
Hmmm. I am surprised you got so much sagging with your jaws just being moved forward. Was your face made shorter? Doesn't sound like it. Have you asked your surgeon about this? Maybe consult with a plastic surgeon and see what they can do for you. Aside from the sagging skin, do you like your result...

Re: refusing surgery for an open bite and crossbite
I think you'd be surprised by what braces can accomplish, by a competent ortho, if you make clear that surgery is not an option to you. Personally, considering you have lived almost 40 years with your situation, and you have stated that it doesn't bother you functionally, and not even all that much ...

Gum Recession due to Bonded Retainer??
I have had a bonded retainer on my upper front 4 teeth for about 6 months. I've had a sensitive gum line on those 4 teeth since lately. When I take a mirror to look at the back of my teeth, I see that my gums have receded into points. The glue holding the wire on my teeth is all the way at my gum li...

Genioplasty hardware removal
Has anyone has the chin plate used for a genioplasty removed post-surgery? It was suggested that I have mine removed so that the skin on my chin lays more nicely.
Has anyone had this done? Good results? Bad results? Side effects? No cosmetic difference?

Re: Surgery without Braces
The problem is that I have root resorption so I cannot have braces again. But I do need surgery. But looks like you cannot have surgery without braces.

Surgery without Braces
Can anyone recommend a surgeon who has preformed double jaw surgery without the use of braces? I am having trouble locating one willing to do this.

If I were you, I would do braces but not surgery.

Re: Delay in Impressions for Retainers
I am very surprised how so many orthos deband patients and then don't IMMEDIATELY take impressions. I pretty much had a similar experience as you although my wait was only hours. In the small amount of time between being debanded and getting impressions taken, my teeth moved as well. Even in that sh...

Re: Trouble coping with bad surgery result
Wanted to give an update. It has been two weeks since my braces came off. My front 4 teeth on my top arch are very mobile. I have seen my dentist and he says that my roots are blunted due to the orthodontic forces (root resorption) and we just need to wait and see what happens next. Potentially I co...

Re: Really worried :-( Front teeth feel wobbly
Thank you for updating this post with how things turned out. My upper 4 front teeth are disturbingly loose 2 weeks post de-banding.
