Re: Little tiny brush

You can find them at most places :) You can also find some little floss pickers designed for braces. I used those for awhile but the christmas tree brushes are better

Re: July 2013 Buddies

Also, baby toothbrush! I know it says to get one in a lot of places... but if you can get an infant toothbrush. It was about the only thing that made my mouth feel better/clean and used it within like 48 hours... I'm weird about having a gross mouth and the liquid diet makes it worse. I had to be ve...

Re: Self Conscious about my braces and need some advice/supp

I agree with all the above.
I'm 21 and I've actually been complimented by a lot of people about how cute my braces are. I think we self-perceive our own awkwardness bc we aren't used to them. :)

Re: What type of toothpaste do you use?

I use sensodyne pronamel. Since having braces my teeth have been exceedingly sensitive, way way more than before. I find it helps....mostly bc the only couple of times I got a cheaper toothpaste I could feel the increase in sensitivity within several days. When I go back to sensodyne it goes back do...

Take a ton of vitamins you guys!! I had my surgery last July (best thing I ever did, so glad. It sucks while it's happening but it's so worth it!!!!)
For real though, take a ton of zinc and vitamin C at the very least. Calcium couldn't hurt either. Good luck yall!

Re: 10 Days Post-OP (Upper Jaw Surgery Advancement)

I'm a year out from my Lefort.
In a year, any crookedness you probably won't notice. I didn't have uneven advancement but still had some slight crookedness in my nose I was paranoid about for months and months. And now I feel like I look so different and it feels so great I don't notice it.

Re: Surgery hooks

I didn't like them for the sheer fact that I could feel them every time I spoke. My surgeon was kind enough to call my ortho 4 weeks after and ask him to remove them for me, otherwise it would have been 8 weeks.

Re: sensitivity after braces came off

I have a lot of sensitivity after getting braces. (I haven't gotten mine off yet.) It was worsened after I regained feeling after orthognathic surgery. I hope y'all's gets better because I feel a little desperate in hopes that mine will eventually go away.

Re: Length of numbness and how did it end?

I am 7 weeks post op and my gums are still numb, nothing else is though.
When I got feeling back in the roof of my mouth (at abt 3 weeks) it just kinda happened overnight.
My surgeon says it can take 18 weeks :/

Re: Do we have a July 2012 buddy group yet?

I am a little over three weeks out. Hopefuly next week I will get the go-ahead on chewing. Working in a food service industry and not being able to chew is killing me. I think I have hung in there pretty well though :) I eat a milkshake every day as a meal (lol). So far I have really enjoyed mashed ...

Re: Do we have a July 2012 buddy group yet?

Sarpey- I've heard of other people having issues vomiting blood. I didn't, although I was incredibly nauseous. My surgeon sucked all the blood out of my stomach before sending me on my way. (that sounds very vampire-ish lol) I was completely exhausted the first few days though. I hope things improve...

Also sorry to hear about your cancellation! That must be a bummer to say the least.
I'm day 18 post op and already starting to regain feeling in my hard palate and am also craving pizza like a crazy person. *sigh*

Re: Do we have a July 2012 buddy group yet?

You're going to laugh, but I was so drugged the first day I have no idea how I got that reply out. That must have been much later in the day. The first day was the worst, mostly bc you really have no idea exactly what to expect even if you've read a billion blogs of people who have done it. I was mo...
