Re: How much weight lost??

I only lost nine pounds, and it was all in the first week! I had just had my daughter and was still nursing on top of recovering from jaw surgery. I really expected a huge loss, but nine pounds is really nothing (I'm overweight to begin with, plus, having just had a baby, I had plenty of weight to l...

Re: How Long Off Work?

I was off for three weeks. I had a one piece Lefort, which isn't nearly as complicated, but I was also nine weeks postpartum and I think it slowed my healing time a bit. Some time halfway through the second week, I woke up feeling like a completely new person. I think part of it was getting off the ...

Re: Extraction positives, celebrities with extractions!

I just got my braces off a week ago. I've had two upper lateral incisors extracted (plus upper jaw surgery.) I'm very pleased with my result!

Re: I could not live without _____ after my jaw surgery...?

Did you do upper or lower? Mine were saline nasal spray, a huge water cup with a straw, and lots of pillows. I had upper jaw surgery and my biggest problem was breathing post-surgery because it felt like my palate was swollen, and also being incredibly thirsty for a week or so. I never used syringes...

Re: Sorry, Should have said February 2014 surgery buddies

I have a question having to do with wires/bands: Surgeon says there should be a spot to get food in behind my teeth. Either I have too much bone, or I'm still too swollen because I sure can't find that spot. I can almost get a tiny (catheter size) tube between teeth on one side. Is this normal? Cer...

How long after surgery did braces come off?

I know this will vary quite a bit, but I'm wondering how long everyone was in braces after their surgeries, and what types of surgery they had?

I'm two and a half months post Le Fort I, and I have an orthodontist appointment in two days. I'm really hoping they can give me an estimate for debracing!

Re: Surgery Costs, Surgeon's Fee, Insurance Coverage/Reimbur

I had a one piece Le Fort I osteotomy with an overnight stay. My stay was coded as outpatient because it was listed as 23 hours, but my surgeon was late on making his rounds and I actually left after like 28 hours... but they still went with outpatient in the claim. I had the following fees (rounded...

Re: Sorry, Should have said February 2014 surgery buddies

Also, it's hard to tell from the one week picture, but I actually had two black eyes. My son had a play that night and my husband and I went, it was my first day in public. My husband was so worried someone would think he hit me!

The worst of the bruising lasted over four weeks for me.

Re: Sorry, Should have said February 2014 surgery buddies

Had my first post-op appointment at the orthodontist. Turns out my jaw spasms on the left side are from my jaw shifting back to the left. Yes, already my jaw wants to relapse! So he changed out my elastics in the hopes of shifting the bite back over to the right. I was so scared that changing the e...

Re: Sorry, Should have said February 2014 surgery buddies

I'm so depressed that I regret getting this done. My swelling is just awful and I can't breathe through my right nostril and am still getting frequent nose bleeds. I think my bite looks awful and I think he screwed up my nose because if he didn't, I should be able to breathe out of both nostrils. A...

Re: Sorry, Should have said February 2014 surgery buddies

Hey all, I'm two months post Le Fort (I don't think we had a December group?) and I wanted to stop in and encourage you all. There IS hope on the other side, I swear. The first couple weeks are rough. I'm now at 90% feeling and only about 5% swelling. I am so happy I went through with the surgery. ...
