Re: 9 hours in and movement????

Yup, I saw movement as fast as that. Once your teeth get loosened up, they can really move. Woo hoo!

Re: What my ortho told me about my retainer.......

As a relapse case, I say; wear it full-time for several months, and then every night forever. Skip a night here & there, sure, but the best retention strategy is just ABR (always be retaining!).

Re: Free consult or Pay for consult?

I paid $0 for one, $50 for another, and $75 for the third. One place wanted to charge $125. But I live in an expensive city, and time is money.

Looks like things are coming along nicely. Your teeth are nice & white and well-shaped. Hang in there. The results will be worth it!

Re: embarassed about my braces- need some encouragement

Your teeth are no one's business but your own and anyone who makes ANY negative remarks about ANY aspect of your physical appearance is rude rude rude. So, I say you have nothing to be embarassed about and if anyone says anything mean go ahead and LET THEM HAVE IT. As in "Mind your business and...

No. Zillions of people get braces and generally have no problems with decalcification.

Re: things got weird on debracing day

Is it down to cost or being visible? Perhaps invisalign might be suitable? All i know is loads of people on here are in braces for the second time in their 50s and 60s so surely it's a good idea to get it perfect first time and keep it that way with retainers. Mainly the visibility. If I really, re...

Re: things got weird on debracing day

Thanks for the replies everyone. :) There is nothing about bottom braces on the initial consultation. I'm just chalking it up to the ortho maybe not having the greatest communication skills (i.e. not hearing me). Anyway, the issue with my bottom teeth is SO minor that I'm going to let it slide. It d...

Re: BRACES OFF - BEFORE AND AFTER PICS.

Take it from someone who just had a second round of braces in their 40s: WEAR YOUR RETAINER. Even if it's evil. You want to keep your teeth looking good!

Re: Office reactions? Job interviews?

Just last week I met someone for the first time and later in our conversation I mentioned having braces, and she honestly had not noticed them. I actually had to show them to her. I had ceramics, but also a big old steel wire. I got them off this morning and so far no one in my office has noticed. S...

Re: Cutting poking wire yourself

Honestly, I wouldn't even try it. Too risky. You could hurt yourself and mess up your treatment. I'd go in and get it done properly.

Re: things got weird on debracing day

Just to clarify, what I find weird is that I got one story at the initial consultation, and quite a different one on debracing day, and my case was never complicated to begin with, so why the difference?

things got weird on debracing day

I had my braces taken off this morning, which should have been a great moment, but my ortho dropped this weird little bomb on me about more work to be done. The background is that I'm a relapse case (had braces as a teen), and had some movement with my top front teeth. This time around, I only had s...

Re: How self-conscious are you about your braces?

I'm like a zero - I just don't care what anyone thinks. The world is full of people who have way worse things going on (people who don't take of their feet wearing sandals, for example), so my braces are no biggie. UNLESS I think I might have food stuck in my braces. Then I shoot right up to a 10 un...
