Re: Debraced!! Huzzah!!
They look great! Now was there some gum loss? Is this common? I noticed this on one in between of my teeth but wasn't sure if it was because there is a gap there now. Does the gun grow back on to the teeth? I don't know if it's gum loss, or what, that causes the infamous "black triangles"...

Re: Essix as an option compared to the Hawley?
My ortho said it was no trouble to use a tooth brush (soft) and toothpaste on my Essix retainers, but I prefer soaks as they were made for the retainers.

Re: Debraced!! Huzzah!!
Thanks for that post! I always wondered (since getting braces) If debracing/ debanding hurt. Now you have answered my question. You smile looks great! And you teeth look healthy. Congrats on finishing treatment! All the best in the future with keeping your straight, healthy smile! Thank you!! I wou...

Re: silicone wax vs wax
I tried silicon wax, but found it to be quite difficult to apply. If your teeth/brackets weren't perfectly dry, it didn't like to stick. However, if you could get it to stick, it was a lot nicer than traditional braces wax. For me, though, it still wasn't enough to deal with the difficulties and I s...

Re: Debraced!! Huzzah!!
Thank you all :) Still happy to be debraced; got my retainer yesterday afternoon, and OMG, the pain! I'd forgotten. My teeth apparently (and normally) started to shift in the 36 hours I'd been unfettered and now they are being pressed back into place by my retainer (Essix). Between that and the unna...

Re: Is 4 mm a significant overjet?
Did your front teeth hurt during/after eating with them? Nope, not a bit! I was expecting some sensitivity, if not actual pain, in the few days/week after the braces came off (I've learned almost nothing was entirely pain-free during the othrodontic process :) ), but I've been pleasantly surprised....

Re: New "problem"
Yep. I fully waxed a couple of times. My husband wonders why I don't just do that every night. Sigh...It's so much work! It really is! Both waxing and then "unwaxing" in the morning. Especially for me in winter as the wax would be too hard to be malleable enough for placement. I would (lo...

Re: New "problem"
This happened to me too. A lot! I would wear a full cover of wax and that would help as there was then nothing to stick to. I would do this for a couple nights until things "healed". Then go without until it happened again.

Debraced!! Huzzah!!
Yesterday was the big day! Everyone kept asking me how excited I was, but I wasn't - I was anxious. Because I knew yesterday was the day I'd have to have molds taken for my retainer (Essix). I've been dreading the molds since the day I got my braces on. I have a quick gag reflex and a small mouth. G...

Re: Is 4 mm a significant overjet?
I raise you 12mm! Yup I had a 12mm overjet when I began! I'm another in the 12mm overjet club. I did have (4) extrations (premolars) because I have a very small mouth and there was no room to uncrowd bottom teeth or move top teeth without. However, I got down to a normal overjet, I'd say about 3mm ...

Re: Any positive results from BICUSPID EXTRACTIONS (PREMOLAR
I have a small both, so had severe crowding on the bottom and around a 12mm overjet on top. I had all four pre-molars removed prior to getting braces to make room.
I haven't noticed any negative side effects to my appearance, in fact I think I look better now!

My retainers (leaning towards Essix) and the permanent retainer on the bottom included in my treatment cost. I also get a discounted cost on replacements.

Re: Sleeping with braces
One thing no one seems to tell you about braces is that when you wake up in the morning your whole inner cheeks and lips are stuck to the brackets and you sort of have to peel them off (or puff up your cheeks to get them off). It's lov-er-ly :P That effect strangely is even worse with elastics. :( ...
