Tooth is shifting out of alignment

I have a front bottom tooth that is rotating slightly and I can feel the edge stick out. Has anyone had teeth move after debracing, and what did your ortho do about it? I only have to wear my Essix retainer 1/2 days now but I'm wondering if I should go back to full time. I dread calling my ortho abo...

Re: So hard to talk with retainer in

Talking has gotten a little easier since I first posted. I only have to wear it at night now. Very happy for that!

Re: Annual Report

That's great to hear! My teeth and gums have never been healthier either. Aside from the healthier alignment, I think we just tend to take better care of our teeth since we've invested so much time and money into them.

Re: Bone/gum loss with braces?

Interesting. I have veneers on both of my upper laterals and the gums around them have been red for awhile now. The braces came off in December and the redness persists. I never had this issue pre-braces. I've been wondering if teeth movement might have caused recession there. I have a dentist appoi...

Re: So hard to talk with retainer in

Essix! Thank you. I'm tempted to trim the edge behind my front teeth just a tad so it's not interfering with my tongue.

So hard to talk with retainer in

After 2 years and 11 months, and adjustments down to the final days, I was finally debraced on Dec. 16th! :singing: I have the clear retainer that looks like whitening trays. What are these called? My ortho tells me nothing. :? For the first 4 days it rubbed against the base of my tongue and was ver...

Ortho still tweaking teeth the week of debracing?

Wow, what a crazy month. After a recheck at Thanksgiving, I was all set for debracing on Dec. 3rd. Went in so excited, even wore a new outfit. My ortho took one look and said he didn't like the way my front tooth was leaning. He rescheduled debracing for Dec. 16th so he could bend the wire. He told ...

Re: My ortho says it's an illusion. Opinions?

Hey fellow Michigander! I'm glad someone else sees it. I don't know how my ortho can't see it. He's a nice guy, just not very good at explaining what he's doing. I wish he'd just say "your teeth aren't moving like I want them to" ...or something! Good to know about the triangle elastics. I...

My ortho says it's an illusion. Opinions?

When I look down at my lower teeth, the arch seems to slant to the right. I told my ortho about it 4 months ago and he said that was impossible and that my teeth must be creating that illusion. I don't think it's an illusion because my lower canine rubs into my upper canine on this side. On the oppo...

Re: Can a retainer close spaces?

Ohhh! I get what you mean now. I was thinking a gap between the teeth, but you mean a space where the two arches don't quite fit together? I have this too. My ortho said it was just the difference in my teeth, but I'm starting to have some doubts about that. I'm going to start my own thread about it...

Re: Can a retainer close spaces?

I have the same exact problem with a debrace date of Dec. 3rd. The ortho did IPR on one of my front lower teeth and now the gap between the teeth will not close up. The powerchain hasn't budged them one bit, and I'm worried my debrace date will be pushed back. I'm interested in the idea that a retai...

Can someone explain power chains to me?

I've had a power chain since practically the beginning of treatment on either the uppers or lowers. I always thought the purpose was to keep the teeth evenly spaced so the elastics wouldn't create gaps. Was I wrong? I have a tiny gap between my front lower teeth where the ortho did IPR a few months ...
