I have the same issue to the point where it drives my dentist and ortho crazy. We haven't really found a solution to this other than frequent cleanings, the more the better.

I think Bite is the most important thing. A midline is just aesthetic, and if it isn't too off then very few if any will notice. The bite however, affects the health of your teeth and jaw.

There could be many reasons why some gaps remain, shape of the teeth for instance, position of the roots in your gums.
