Re: Bone regrowth for jaw surgery after wisdom teeth removal

It takes time for bone to grow. I had an cuspid extracted and a bone graph placed in the resulting hole. It is going to be over a year before they go in and place the anchor for the implant. And I just had Wilkodontics done, which will give me another year in braces to resolve a failed La Forte proc...

My first set of braces went on when I was about 11 or 12. They came off when I was 18 then I got another set on when I was 21 or 22. Those came off when I was 25. Now I am looking at possible getting them again.

I misused the word. Sorry. The docs said I would have to wear a retainer at night for the rest of my life - removable as a fixture but permanent as being a part of my life. Sorry for any confusion.

Slightly different experience on my end - cross-bite and bad face. Did have repair to my nose, though. I'm not sure if I had a deviated septum before the nose repair but I don't think so. I do have one now. It isn't too much of a problem for me - I'm getting ready to run in my third marathon this we...

Overall, I don't feel the need for surgery to clean up my smile. This is all snowballing from looking at a loose upper front incisor which is being pushed forward by the lower incisor and the upper cuspid which is being pushed backwards by the lower teeth. i may end up just telling them to come up w...

Forgot to mention that the oral surgeon is also concerned that the LeForte would relapse back into the same position the bone currently is in since it has happened in the past (post the first surgery). I think that may be why he is leaning in the direction of wilckodontics.

The oral surgeon I was referred to was thinking another LeForte. He referred me to an orthodontist who then brought up Wilckodontics and referred me to a dentist. None of them mentioned SARPE so I will need to do some research on that one. Thanks for mentioning it. Funny thing on the history - refer...

Staring Wilckodontics in the face and shaking in my boots

Howdy, I'm the current newbie on the block. Ran across the forum trying to find info on wilckodontics. I was feeling pretty confident about the procedure until I read the info here. Now I'm not so sure. I've had too many surgeries to count and am not looking forward to having any more but that is th...
