Re: October buddies

Hey guys! Saw my surgeon today for my 2 month checkup. He said everything looks great, and he cleared me to eat "anything I feel comfortable with"!! Of course, for right now, that does not mean much, since I am not really comfortable with anything, but hey, it's a start! My ROM is right ar...

Re: October buddies

I saw my ortho today! He took my hooks out and reconfigured my bands, which feels great. He also estimated 4 more months in braces, which as we all know means 6-12 months in orthospeak. But, I'm happy to hear anything under a year, so I'll take it. I see my surgeon in 2 weeks, for my 2 month appt. H...

Re: How can I clean the back of my teeth?

I was given the go ahead to use a Waterpik after 2 weeks, as long as I used the lowest setting.

It was a life-saver, too! It really helped me clean out the gross taste, and was just generally refreshing.

Wow, congrats Chicago!

That's right around the corner, too! I can only hope to get released in 2011...

CG, I concur. I'm nowhere near to running out of steam yet, but the aching and the torn up mouth are wearing thin. Honestly though, I'm still so amazed by feeling a proper alignment in my bite that I find it difficult to dwell on the less-fun aspects. I've still got a lot of numbness on my chin and ...

Izzy, I've been back on the grind for about 2 weeks now. I do 12-16 hour days, 6 days a week. I honestly haven't had any trouble, but everyone seems to think my experience is anomalous.

You REALLY should take 35k's advice and wait a while before judging the outcome. Six days falls well within most folks definition of "a few days". And after less than a week, most of what you're seeing is almost definitely swelling. From what I've seen, genio procedures cause a lot of swel...

Beowulf, while the numbness does linger for a long while, I found that my drooling phase was over within 3 weeks, tops.

The numbness does become something you get used to. You'll do fine, trust me...I was back to 14 hour work days after 2 weeks. It sucked at first, but it is honestly not that bad.

Beowulf, my lips are still mostly numb, although they do not have the totally dead feeling that they had at first (that thing where it is like they do not even exist). My chin is still entirely numb, but my lips feel more like they just have an insane amount of novocaine in them. I canm ove them aga...

Thanks! I actually look quite a bit different even today than I did when I took my after pic. I can nearly almost smile again, and more of the swelling is gone. Now I just have it in my cheeks and around the bottom of my jawline (where it meets my neck). I feel great, too, although working and class...

CG, I know exactly what you mean about the teeth hurting/gums receding/touching "through" the chin. For me, it is my lower sevens. I can see that the gumline is just beat up around them, and I think I can feel it hurting/aching off and on all day, but the whole concept of "hurting&quo...

Don't worry, you'll do fine!

Mandy is right, too; the waiting is the worst part! (well, that and day 4!)

Just joking, day four is not that bad. You will likely be so happy to have the big day behind you that you'll not even notice day 4!!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Neverloved, I've gotta say that I think you are looking at this all wrong. It may not be my place to tell you this, but as someone who recently underwent surgery and was also hospitalized (multiple times) in my younger days for mental health issues and drug problems, I feel like I might have some st...
