Hi dont despair! I have had lots of frustrations on my own braces journey, sometimes I felt my teeth looked worse than before, then half way through treatment, although my front teeth looked lovely, all my molars had rotated in funny directions because of the wire pulling on them to bring my front t...

Hi Lovely colour, I have that colour quite a lot as it's my favourite. I've had to have colours the whole time, and in fact at the moment I have triple chains on top and bottom so my mouth can look very colourful at times! This is my last time though in colours... I am having my retainer moulds made...

Fantastic side effect of braces - fabulous gorgeous non-bitten fingernails!! After 30 years of nail biting I'm finally out of the habit. And as for sugar, just brush your teeth after eating it!

I have to say I am sooo glad I didn't have headgear - have you SEEN the hilarious headgear Willy Wonka wears in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"?

I agree, you may be ok to eat pretty much anything you like right now, I can manage Peanuts, cashews etc, doritos, pizza - even the crust - and even things like apples and hard fruit, but of course I just don't bite into them, I chop it up first. The only things I really haven't been able to eat are...

I've been worrying about this issue too - when I saw my ortho yesterday she said my braces could be off in the next couple of months, but I'm far from happy with the results at the moment. Admittedly they're much much better and I'm loving having them change and get straighter but I still have a hor...

I've had elastics the whole entire time and I'm supposed to have them until the bitter end. I'm used to them now, but I still think they look gross.... one of my little girl's friends once asked if I knew that I had a bit of spaghetti stuck in my teeth!!! If I'm going out for a really nice social ev...

My two molar bands on the bottom have done exactly the same thing, I really freaked out about it to start with but the ortho said not to worry, her exact words were... "Don't worry, we're not going to leave you like that!!". That was about 4 months ago and although the bands are still sunk...

Hi, I just wanted to say my bit as well - a few days after my braces were put on, I had really horrid brown staining around each bracket, so I went to see my dental hygienist and she cleaned them all up. Basically, it's the remains of the glue from having the brackets on and it stains realllly badly...

I too know the pain of the chain!! I've got double chains on the bottom and one on the top, all the way round. I had an adjustment yesterday so I'm in the pain zone right now, but I'm so used to it I don't even take painkillers now, I eat soft food for a couple of days and brush with a normal toothb...

I've seen some "instant toothbrushes" available to buy at my orthodontists - it's like a normal toothbrush but with a hollow handle which is filled with paste, you twist it and paste goes onto the brush and away you go!! Not sure what they're called though, sorry! I'll have a look properly...

Hi Goodness me, I think if I spent 30 minutes brushing my teeth I'd get repetitive strain injury!!! I brush my teeth when I wake up, after every meal and before bed, but for about 2 minutes at a time with my Oral B advance power thingy, I sometimes use the skinny toothbrush to get round the brackets...

Hi all, just had to put my comments in as well, I'm finding foods really boring too, eating the same things, I am craving pizza at the moment as it's one of the few things I've found I really CAN'T eat - I even dreamt of eating pizza the other night! I seem to have indigestion as well, probably from...

I can really appreciate what you're going through. I can't see any difference in my teeth at the moment apart from the fact that my premolars have moved inwards and look worse than before I started! Not only that, but I had 4 extractions to make room for my teeth to move and they have moved but not ...
