Hook pushed into gum

Hi - I have a problem - my back right bottom molar band hook seems to have pushed into my gum. No wonder I have had so much trouble getting my lateral band on that side? I have good oral cleaning practices and both my ortho and hygenist have commented about how clean my teeth are - could it be that ...

Has anyone lost the ability to whistle?

Hi - since I got my braces (5 months ago) I haven't been able to whistle - just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Sorry I haven't had one of those, but I can see why you've got "ouchine in my mouthy' - I hope it settles down!

I brush twice a day - once after breakfast and once after dinner. My ortho and dental hygenist don't think flossing is necessary - I just use the pixster brushes at night. For lunch I use a little pixter brush to make sure there isn't any food hanging around. I also use high-flouride mouthwash - the...

Wax is the key - I also found this mouthwash to be really good at healing ulcers - I used it before I went to bed each night - It lessons the pain and I also found the ulcers cleared quicker...I loved the stuff!

Congrat smilelikeyoumeanit - and welcome. Nerves are all apart of it, you will be fine. Reading in the forum is a really great way to get an idea of what it will be like once they are on and it's a great way to ask questions. I must ask do you have a "final meal" planned before the braces ...

Re: Was given 30 months, but taking off in 16months?

Hey, so i'm taking my braces off next week and i can't describe how excited i am for that. I have a great orthodontist and hes made this process entirely smooth and im thankful for that. I was given an estimated time of 30months, but its half that amount of time and im taking them off. My teeth are...

Hi - if you let your ortho know and they said to wait for the week they musn't think it will affect your treatment adversly. I gad to get a bracket off to get a filling, and they left it off for a week. It must be annoying though - try lots of wax!

Nothing to worry about (abeit sometimes annoying) - it has been the same for me, especially in the first few weeks but the 'random' pain has settled with time - this article gives a good explaination for it:

Hi hmv2009 - congrats on the braces! Same for me - they looked bad with the wire being all over the place. I don't know if I was imagining it, but after about two weeks I noticed it straightening up. Also, I looked a bit puffy in the checks for a couple of weeks, but that settled down too. Good luck.
