Re: refinements = discouraged

This happened to me also. My refinements were for about an extra 3 months though. The frustrating thing for me was having to wait for the refinements to come through. They took about 3 - 4 weeks, so I had to keep wearing the last trays for about 6 weeks, which as you can imagine were gross. The good...

Water is about the only thing you can drink with the aligners in, unless of course you take them out for your fruit and then clean your teeth quickly and replace the aligners. Don't worry you will get used to them. I found at first that I had a terrible dry mouth, so the water really helped to have ...

Fixed Bonded Retainers & Leveling Teeth

I have only 6 days left of my refinements, and next week I am having my attachments removed (hooray horray) and two bonded retainers fitted (not so good). I have been told that the fixed retainers will have to be there for at least 5 years. Can anyone tell me what living with them is like as I am qu...

I really wouldn't advise it, you have done so well to get this far it is best to continue to wear them as much as you can. I had to wear the same aligners for 7 weeks whilst waiting for my refinements to arrive and then for my orthodontist to return from his holidays. I know it is a real pain, as th...

Hi, I recently finished my treatment but needed refinements as like yourself I had some gaps that just hadn't closed up. I had to wear my last trays for about 6 weeks in total, this was for the original 2 weeks that they were needed for and then I had to wait approx 4 weeks for the refinements to ar...

Thanks for your comments everyone. I have now seen my Orthodontist again, and he thinks that as the aligners are fitting the attachments correctly and the aligners cover my teeth and fit snug, then I shouldn't have anything to worry about. Subsequently, it apears that all the top aligners I have, no...

Aligner fitting issues

Is it normal to have a small gap between the aligner and the bottom of one of my teeth? My bottom aligners fit nice and snug, but i seem to have a small gap with one of my front teeth on my upper aligner. The aligner completely fits onto the attachment and covers the whole tooth, but the bottom of m...

Are refinements always needed?

After reading posts on this site, it appears that most people go into refinements and this can nearly be as long as the treatment again. Is this normal? or is it possible to finish the trays as planned and be done!. I'm counting down the months and hope that I will be all finished later this year. T...

Dry Mouth Issues - New To Invisalign

Hi, I've just joined the forum after reading posts for ages whilst deciding whether to go ahead with the treatment or not. I'm now on tray 3 and am generally gettting on ok with it. However, I've constantly got a dry mouth and lips and although I drink tons of water and use vitamin e oil on my lips,...
