Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

Hello and Happy Saturday! Cathy, I can always count on you for a reply. It's comforting to know we are (again!) in the same boat. Sorry to hear you seem to be having the same problem. Now I can't stop looking in the mirror to look at this latest issue. I'm sure someone can tell me if this is true or...

Re: Ellebraced is getting braced- PICS !!!!!

Hi Elle,
You have such a great attitude! Some of the things I read in your posts make me giggle because I can SO relate! For some reason I'm unable to see your pics, though.
Good lucky for speedy straight teeth!

This is my mouth closed with my teeth together. You can see the midline here looks good, but again, completely off to one side. UGGH!

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

I've been away from the boards for a while as work has been keeping me busy, but I had an adjustment about two weeks ago and got new elastics to straighten my midline. They are two very heavy bands, both to be worn on my right side 24/7. So on Wednesday of this week I was in the office bathroom doin...

Re: So Embarrassed!

Hi Brits, I've certainly had my share of embarrassment being 40 (ish) with braces. I've finally realized that people really don't care. You may get an odd comment here or there, but for the most part folks will either not notice at all, or they'll notice, comment and then move on. Seriously, you're ...

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

It's been a while since I've updated. I sort of got to the point where I thought I was close to finishing. Now suddenly I'm wondering if I've got another year to go! I'm wearing elastics (xtra heavy!) from the front of my upper molars to the inside of my lower teeth. Hard to explain, but it's suppos...

Re: Catgyrl's (Cathy's) Journey at age 42...

I'm feeling your pain about the gaps! The one on the left side of my mouth has been nicely closed for almost two months, but the one on the right is being stubborn. It's very frustrating because I can tell my doc wants to start working on my bite, which feels like real progress! But I'm pretty sure ...

Re: Scared Little School Girl

Hey Jen, I have the same problem as you do! My back teeth do not meet up at all. If I bite on the left the teeth on the right don't touch and if I bite on the right...well you get the idea. I am wondering if that's the reason you're being sent to a surgeon. (And I'm hoping it isn't!) I was told at m...

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

Grrrrr! I must be in that middle-of-treatment "over it" stage. I'm looking at my crooked, metal, porcelain and rubber band filled smile and wondering how it could look this bad after TWO YEARS!!!! Come on!! On a lighter note, the bottom brackets aren't bothering me quite so much this week....

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

My mouth is driving me crazy! I can now understand why my sweet, kind ortho left the bottom braces off for so long. My mouth hurts, my speech is impaired, eating is a struggle and I feel more self-conscious this weekend because I'm at a work conference and talking to new people all day long. Oh ugggh...

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

I should clarify that the board mysteriously changed one of my sentences. I am not going to have an ocean when I have my brackets removed. I am going to have a drink or maybe two...no, two and a half. That should do it.

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

Yesterday was a big day for me in tooth world! I had my cleaning and my dentist's office called me to ask me to drop by the orthodontist before my cleaning to have them remove my wires. (They did not have me do this for my last cleaning, but since I do love going to the orthodontist I didn't mind mu...

Re: Is 40 too old for a new grill?

Hi Cathy! He said to wear them 12 hours a day, so I wore them for a few hours yesterday and then put them in a few hours before bed so I could get most of my hours in while sleeping. They don't really bother me that much... BUT... The bottom braces are another story altogether. They're driving me nu...
