Hi Steradent is available by the toothpaste at the supermarket - its what people soak their false teeth in! I have on occassion drank with mine it, but they smelt absolutely foul, so had to keep going to the loo to rinse them out and give my mouth a good swish with water! I try not to do it. They do...

my refinements are also included as was a retainer. Not sure about "lets see if you need a retainer" type approach - I thought everyone needs a retainer to stop your teeth just moving back?

Hi - my first tray of refinements was very comfy, but the tightness was back by the second tray. Not sure if tray 1 of refinements is very similar to where your teeth are when the impressions are taken in case you have been naughty waiting for your new trays? A bit like my very first tray was fairly...

No one has ever noticed my attachments (and trust me, my friends are HONEST  ). I had attachments on my eye teeth. You can't see them on photos - I would guess a photo would need to be taken as close as say less than a metre away for the attachments to be seen (and even then I think would dep...

I don't think superglue is a good idea. Did you only get one retainer? I thought you got a couple?

My attachments were removed.

I can't see that leaving them on would work for the very reason you are having issues now. Also, my refinements resulted in attachments on different teeth to the first time around.

Airport brushing

So I've just come back from a week skiing in Chamonix valley, where I had a picnic lunch every day and had to brush my teeth on the side of the mountain every day (got a LOT of strange looks from other skiers!). When I got to Geneva airport to come home was just about to start brushing my teeth and ...

I use chewing gum and water.

Definitely rinse the aligner as soon as it comes out so the spit doesn't dry on it. This isn't ideal, but it usually gets me home/a bathroom so I can do it properly.

Refinements - blah!

I went to my ortho today for what I thought was going to be my last lot of IPR (started aligner 16 of 17 last night). I've had one tooth which hasn't tracked the aligner as it should have done and had some messing around with going back a few aligners at Christmas trying to get it back on track, but...

uh oh - not sure I should answer - it's made me realise how bad I am :o My shortest day was probably new years eve with about 13 hours of wear (eek). That was actually a really bad idea because it was also my swap night - so queue major tight aligner when I put in the new one before going to bed in ...

swimming with aligners in is fine according to my ortho - I brush my teeth and aligners afterwards. I do scuba diving training in a pool regularly which means having to get the pool water in my mouth regularly. I also keep them in for other sports (netball, rock climbing and gym), just need to drink...

funny how everyone seems to get different advice from their ortho. I finish my treatment (refinements aside - but doesn't look like I will need them unless I am fussy!) in 5 weeks and my ortho says I just move to night wear only. At the moment, I have had a few recent occassions where I've had my al...

Welcome! Everyone is different. My first tray gave me a bit of a tight feeling. The second one when I had attachments on was tighter with a stronger ache for the first few days - but only really notice the ache for the first 5-10 minutes of wearing the tray, then for the first few days when taking o...
