I'm feeling fine. Had a good recovery so far. I was not wired shut - I don't think they do that anymore. Right after surgery I was able to open my mouth a little (probably almost a finger wide). They just put on elastics - 2 on each side. If you want here is a link to my blog: http://myunderbiteadve...

Hi. I had upper and lower jaw surgery 2 weeks ago and was very worried about weight loss. I was 98lbs at 5'2" going into this surgery. I only lost 3lbs. I am on a no chew diet so only blended stuff for 6 weeks. The first few days I was having trouble swallowing and could mostly take very liquid...

Well today is day 12 and I feel pretty normal. Swelling is down a lot but still have some in my top lip area and around the nose, possibly under the chin. Chin/lower lip are numb and feel heavy/stiff which is annoying. Good news, I got my splint out on day 10! I could not believe it.. I hated that t...

I'm on day 10 post-op and my chin and bottom lip also feel very stiff/heavy. I think that's just because that area is still numb. My doctor said the chin/lower lip area is usually the last place to regain sensation and can take up to a year and a half in extreme cases.

It's hard to judge without pictures. However, 1-2mm is not that big of a difference and you do say that your chin looks so much better now anyway, so maybe this isn't really worth the risk?

Your profile looks fine. You do have a bit of a gummy smile but it isn't that bad and like the previous poster said, I would look into gum recontouring instead if it bothers you.

Charlsie142, i dont have any stitches from the cheek drains. I am not sure what your surgeon is talking about. Anyway, didnt sleep well last night -- maybe i got like an hour or 2 of sleep total. Congestion and being upright was preventing me from getting sleep. I had blood come gush out of my right...

Hey guys. I just got home like 2 hours ago. My surgery started at 8am yesterday and lasted 4 hours. Everything went well according to the doctors. I woke up around 12:30, feeling no pain and overall much better than I expected. Although my arm was killing me, probably from the position it was layin ...

My surgeon told me that I can do light stuff like walking, yoga, stretching as soon as I feel up to it. But he did warn against activities and exercise that may cause trauma to my jaw when it is still healing. I think cycling is fairly safe but I would maybe do it on a stationary bike for like the f...

For upper jaw surgery (advancement), I was told the nose can get a bit wider and maybe pointer tip - also your nostrils might show a bit more. I'm not sure how it affects the nose if your having your top jaw moved back but I would assume the opposite of an advancement..? As for lower jaw only, it do...
