Re: Has anyone here appealed the allowable amount with Anthe

Hookie Tay, congrats on paying everything off in 22 months. Luckily Goletta Hospital is in BC/Anthem's network. Like you I will have to pay 30% of the hospitalization fees. I'm especially annoyed with the letter I received from Anthem two months ago informing me about my 25% premium increase. I can'...

Re: Has anyone here appealed the allowable amount with Anthe

From my experience, BCBS/Carefirst/Anthem is THE WORST. I had an AWFUL experience with them and footed a lot more of the bill than I thought I'd have to. My advice is to absolutely not go out of network with them. The allowable amount is set in stone. It does not matter if the surgeon charges $10k o...

Re: A long journey finally at the end!

Thanks so much for all the kind words everyone. It really means a lot!

No, my swelling was never out of control, but it did last a long time. It slowly went down, but looking back at pictures I always think, "wow I was still pretty swollen 4 months later!"

A long journey finally at the end!

Hey everyone! I have not been on here for a long time, but thought I'd post b/c I finally had my last regularly scheduled orthodontist appt. I had BSSO and Le Fort in June 2009 and I had my braces off in October 2009, but even though I had my braces off over a year ago I have still had to go back ev...

I don't remember my midlines being off, but that is something the ortho can correct. Actually my top and bottom midlines do not match up perfectly now. It's probably off by half a mm. Only myself, surgeon, and ortho notice this and it doesn't bother me. Yes, I am very pleased. So happy I did it. It'...

Ok, you need to relax. It's still sooo early. My bite was not right for months after surgery. Once I healed up some, then the ortho's work began. And guess what I am 16 months post op and the ortho is still working!! I don't have braces on anymore, but I still go back once every 8 weeks for retainer...

Don't worry. Your bite will be perfect, but not yet! I too thought it would be perfect when I woke up and it was for the first 12 days when I was wired shut. Then it felt weird and I could still bite in 2 different places. That's b/c the OS did his job and once I was somewhat healed the ortho took o...

HokieTay is right, anyone expecting their cinderella style transformation of their life is due to be hugely disappointed. If you're insecure before surgery you'll be insecure after surgery, and it's extremely foolish to expect it to make any difference to what you're like to live with. Biggs, sorry...

WHAT?! I kind of think this thread is ludicrous too! If you're implying that people with jaw problems have horrible personalities before surgery, I do not agree. If you do, surgery isn't going to "change" your personality. Being grumpy b/c you're in pain from TMJ is not part of your person...

No, you cannot assume the anesthesiologist is in network b/c the hospital is in network. I have read horror stories of people getting a sticker shock bill for an out of network anesthesiologist. Man Charlsie, how did you swing that?! I applealed my payment b/c my surgeon was IN NETWORK, but I couldn...

To make things clear : I admire the courage of crazybeautiful to go through this surgery to fix her underbite. I admire her results and think that she looks lovely now. I pointed out that prior surgery I found her underbite unattractive (like I find mine's). So freaking what ??? , are we living in ...

Looks like functional is winning out so far... 1. I had breathing issues (couldn't breathe through my nose), chewing problems, gummy smile, recessed chin, lip incompetence. 2. 90% functional, 10% aesthetics 3. Yes, would have still done it in a heartbeat b/c I can't tell you how awesome it is to be ...

In any case, crazybeautiful, let me make it simple: if I saw you at the bar as you look now, I would have offered you a drink (not sure if you would have accepted, since I'm pre surgery myself :)). This wouldn't have happened prior your surgery. Now, if it ended at the bar then great, but in realit...

Thanks everyone! I forgot to mention that I still have a tiny bit of numbness on the right side of my bottom lip and just below it. It really doesn't bother me though.

Don't worry... a year really does fly by! The exhausting process and surgery will all be a thing of the past before you know it!!
