 Scott
is 29 and has been in braces about 1 year total between
his first orthodontist and his new orthodontist. (He
moved and had to change dentists).
He
has about one year of treatment to go. He was debating Inspire
brand or ceramic brackets, he but was concerned about the
yellowing, etc. Finally he decided on metal (although he says
that his metal brackets seem a bit larger than others he's
seen). Scott
wears elastics and headgear. The headgear is anchoring things;
it's for overbite correction.
He says, "I am supposed to
wear headgear 16 hours a day or more. I have slacked a bit
last month but am back up to about 16 hrs. I wear it pretty
much all the time when I'm not at work, also most of the
weekends 20+hrs. I will have braces another year and I think
the headgear that long as well. I wear the elastics
24/7."
Scott
now has about 5 or 6 months left in his treatment, which will
put him at 26 months total, considering about 2 months lost
when he relocated. Scott is done with the headgear and is
looking forward to getting his braces off soon! |
