Well, after
many, many years of complaining about my smile, all the
excuses of I didn't have money, time, etc etc., I finally
broke down and got braced yesterday.
I am 32 years old
and thanks to this site, I have been well prepared for my first
visit. I got to my appt. at 9:20 in the morning, where of
course, the office was running a little late. Then as I was
waiting, the dental assistant was assisted into the ortho's
office by the front desk gal! I asked the gal that helped her in
if she was OK. I guess she had surgery a few days ago and got
all shakey and nauseous, so she had to lie down! Great, I was
thinking, who is gonna work on my mouth now?
The ortho comes
out and asks one of the gals that works at the front desk to
help him with me! I was a little freaked out, since I was a
little nervous anyways about the whole thing, but to have
someone a little inexperienced help out?! Anyway, I got in the
chair, and what should have taken an hour was over 2 hours. A
little slow, since he had to explain everything to my new
"assistant".
Finally got the
tops and bottoms on, and the spacers in. Had to have 9 put in!
So far, my teeth haven't ached or hurt at all! Maybe it was the
4 ibuprofen I took before my appt, and soon thereafter also. The
only part that hurts is the brackets are tearing up the inside
of my lips pretty good. I've used a ton of wax already.
My family and
co-workers have been all really supportive, even bringing in
snacks to the office that I can eat! So far, it's been a great
experience, and I can't wait to see the final results in 2
years! I know it will all be worth it in the end. Good luck to
all you guys out there. Come on in, the water's fine!
