I'm 32 years old and have
always hated my teeth, I have crowding on the bottom set,
but it's the crowding on the top set which I hate the most
as I have a massive overbite. I was offered braces when I
was at school but turned them down because I was too scared
to have 4 healthy teeth out. However I've recently decided
that I'm old enough to deal with that bit, so over the last
2 weeks I've had all four removed! It wasn't as bad as I
thought it would be, although I was really unlucky and got
dry socket in one of the holes, which has been really
painful.
Anyway, yesterday I had my
lower brace fitted. It didn't hurt at all, and to be honest, the
weirdest thing at the moment (which no one else on this website
seems to have mentioned) is that my dentist put 'spacers' on my
back molars to reduce my bite. Not quite sure why, he did
explain it but I didn't really understand. Anyway this bit feels
really weird because I can't close my mouth normally, and eating
is a real challenge! Fortunately these spacers will disappear in
the next fortnight, I can't wait for them to go!!!
The teeth feel quite tender,
and my gums are too, I've already been using the wax! I hope the
next few days will be ok, but I'm so glad I've done it and am on
the way to a beautiful smile at last!
